Inaugural Asian Championship
I would like to announce the first ever Asia Championships to be held in Singapore this November.
Qualification requirements for the Championship will be the same as those for the Australian Nationals. Which means the top 50% of players (up to a maximum of 10 players) in each constructed Championship Qualifying (including "Last Chance Qualifier") events qualify.
Last Chance Qualifiers: Asian CHampionship
Date: 20th November 2010
Location: No. 3 Ruby Lane, Singapore 328278
Entry Fee: SGD$20
Format: V:EKN Constructed, 3 round + final table (2 hours per round + 2.5 hour table)
Asian Championship
Date: 21st November 2010
Location: No. 3 Ruby Lane, Singapore 328278
Entry Fee: SGD$20
Format: V:EKN Constructed, 3 round + final table (2 hours per round + 2.5 hour table)
Registration starts at 9.30am on the respective days.
We are aiming to start both events by 10am on both days.
Prizes will be provided for both events.
For our overseas friends who are seeking accommodations, here is the link to a list of hotels: http://hotels.online.com.sg/ (select Little India or Near City Central from the right-hand-side menu for nearby accommodations). Hotels along Serangoon Road are the nearest to the event location, but Singapore is small enough that you can get anywhere within an hour.
Feel free to contact me at zhengyyz *dash* mail *at* yahoo *dot* com *dot* sg if you have any questions, or if you wish to register in advance.
Hope to see you all there!

ReplyDeleteYY,
ReplyDeleteIf you are running this next year, would those who Qualify for National Championships outside Singapore also qualify?
e.g. Would those who Qualify for the Australian Nationals also be considered as Qualified for the Asian Champs?
I am still a bit fuzzy on the V:EKN qualification rules, but from what I understand from Oscar, yes.
ReplyDeleteSo if you are qualified for the Aussie Nats, you will also be qualified for the Asian Continental.
Hope this helps (also hopes this means we will see you at the AC 2010). :)
Personally, I'd love to... but mostly it's to try push for a little bit more cross-play unity in SEAsia. Plus, if I am ever in Singapore I'd dead LOVE to sit down for a few hours of VTES if my wife would allow me to stop being a tourist to do it...
